FORT SCOTT - Norma Jean Swank Johnson, 74, of Colorado, formerly of Fort Scott, died Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2004, at Harry Hines Memorial Hospice in Wichita following a brief illness.

She was born Sept. 9, 1930, in Lamar, Mo., to Otis R. and Maude Moore Clements.

She graduated from Fort Scott High School in 1948.

She was secretary of the Mental Health Center for 10 years, retiring in 1989.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church.

She was a Past Worthy High Priestess in White Shrine Fidelis Deo No. 6, Past Royal Matron of Regal Court No. 10, Order of the Amaranth, Azrim Temple, Daughter of the Nile, and Olive Chapter No. 13 Order of the Eastern Star.

She married Kenton E. Swank on April 15, 1949, in Bentonville, Ark. He preceded her in death June 11, 2001.

She married Darrall Johnson in March 2004 in Colorado.

Additional survivors include two daughters, Saundra "Sandy" Swank of Wichita and Nancy Cragg of Fort Scott; two granddaughters; and four great-grandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by two brothers, Merrel Clements and Guy Clements; and two sisters, Golda Glaze and Nadine Perkins.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Watson officiating. Amaranth services will be at the church.

Burial will follow at Fort Scott National Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Cheney Witt Memorial Chapel in Fort Scott with Eastern Star services at 7:30 p.m.

Arrangements are under the direction of Cheney Witt Memorial Chapel.
