Mrs. Clemens Funeral Yesterday at North Washington

Mrs. Catherine Adams Clemens, widow of Michael Clemens, died at Mercy hospital in Dubuque, Sunday evening at 8:15 ofclock, following a three monthfs illness.

The body was brought to the Larkin-Kuntson Funeral Home Monday from where the funeral was held Wednesday morning to the Immaculate Conception church in North Washington where a mass of requiem was sung by the pastor, Reverend P.J. Peutz, at 9 ofclock. Burial was in the parish cemetery besides the remains of her husband and life companion, Michael Clemens, who died August 3, 1935.

The deceased was born May 23, 1868, at North Washington, a daughter of the late Michael and Catherine Adams. She grew to young womanhood in that community receiving her education in the rural and parochial school. On October 4, 1887, she was married to Michael Clemens. Thus she was baptized, married and buried from the Immaculate Conception church in North Washington. She was a member of the Motherfs Society of this church.

Mr. and Mrs. Clemens lived at North Washington nearly all their lives. Four years ago they moved to Dubuque and after his death she her home with her daughter, Mrs. Henry Maiers of that city.

All her life Mrs. Clemens was devoted to her family and other relatives and a good fired to all she knew. She had three sons in service during the World War, and it is said she wrote to them every day.

In Chickasaw County, she retained a host of friends all through life because she was so good and so kind. We join all of these in extending sincere sympathy to her bereaved ones.

Survivors include a daughter Mrs. Henry (Catherine s/b Kathryn) Maiers, Dubuque, Her sons, William M. general manager of the Trausch Baking Company and Leo J. ,Dubuque; Nicholas J., Wimbledon, N.D.; Henry J, Cortney N.D.; George, Los Angeles, Calif. ; and Edward, Oakland, Calif; her brothers Henry Adams, Ionia, IA; and Peter and Joseph Adams, Spokane, Washington; her sister, Mrs. John (Susan) Expen, Seattle Wash; and her 25 grandchildren.
