William MacDonald “Billy Mac” Clem, 81, of Mountain Home, passed away Sunday November 29, 2009 at Mountain Home.
He was born December 29, 1927 in Yellville to Leslie G. and Mary Vivian Callahan Clem. He and his wife, Deloris “Dee” Clem celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on May 20, 2009.
He was a retired independent geologist, a member of the Masonic Lodge of Yellville, a 32nd degree Mason in Reno, Nevada, and a member of the Society of Mining Engineers.
For a few years after school, Bill worked in the aero-space industry in California. He was on the maiden voyage of the SSN 616, a nuclear-powered submarine. Later, he worked in petroleum exploration and got the chance to return to his passion – geology. He founded his own company and began to explore the earth on his own.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Deloris “Dee” Clem,
and his brother, L.G. Clem of Yellville.
Survivors are his brothers-in-law, Dwain Kitchel of Knoxville, Tennessee; Gaither Kitchell of Las Vegas, Nevada; and Les Kitchell of Mountain Home;
his sisters-in-law, Mary Francis Clem of Yellville, Nancy Baledge of Flippin, and Billie Diffey of Harrison.
Also surviving Mr. Clem is his special nephew Gary Smith Clem of Olathe, Kansas.
Services will be 11:00 am Wednesday December 2, 2009 at Burns Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Rick Pyron officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 am Wednesday until the time of the service. Interment will follow at Layton Cemetery in Yellville.
Pallbearers will be Gary Clem, Dwain Kitchel, Les Baledge, Lee Baledge, and Len Baledge.
