Mrs. Anna B. Cleaver, wife of Thomas J. Cleaver, of 412 Albert avenue, passed away Sunday night at 11 o'clock at the home, at the age of 72 years, after a long illness from bronchial asthma and dropsy.
Mrs. Cleaver's maiden name was Anna B. Colman and she was Anna B. Colman and she was born in Mayfield, Sussex, England, Sept. 15, 1842. She came to this country as a child with her family, who became pioneer residents of Beloit, where she grew to womanhood and where her marriage to Mr. Cleaver took place in 1972.
Nine years ago Mr. and Mrs. Cleaver came to Rockford. Mr. Cleaver following his trade of printer and holding positions of trust in connection with trades-union organizations, while the condition of her health kept Mrs. Cleaver close to her home. The deceased had been a consistent member of the Methodist Episcopal church for fifty years, but had not filed her letter with any local church of this denomination owing to her inability to attend through illness.
The departed is survived by her husband, two sisters, Mrs. John Jack, of 2103 School street, and Mrs. Louise Tilford, of Sioux City, and a brother Matthew Colman, of Ames, Ia.
Private funeral services will be held at the home Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. H. M. Bannen officiating, and interment will be in the West Side cemetery. Friends are asked not to send flowers.
