Charles A. Cleaver
Memorial services will be held for Charles A. Cleaver, consulting civil engineer, at 11 a.m. Saturday in Oak Woods cemetery. Cleaver, a former Chicagoan, died Aug. 25 in Springfirld, O., after a long illness. His great-grandfather, Samuel M. Brooks (nephew of Samuel Marsden Brookes), an artist, and grandfather, Charles Cleaver, came to Chicago in 1833. Brooks was said to have been the first man to bring a piano to Chicago. Cleaver st. is named for his grandfather, who had a soap and candle factory there. Surviving are his widow, Gertrude K. (KING), and two sisters, Mrs. E. Harley Bickford of Deming, N.M., and Mrs. Harold F. White of Chicago.
