Pauline M. Claytor Bosserman "Granny" departed this world to go home with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 28, 2007 at 8:45 AM at her home of 231 Maine Circle, Knox Mobile City Trailer Park, Staunton. At time of death, she was surrounded by her daughter, Linda and grandson, Dale Ray, and granddaughters, Lisa and Lawanda; friends, Russell and Bobbie Strand, and daughter Monica and son, Sam Strand.
She was born December 11, 1924.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, David and Rena (Rankin) Claytor; daughter, Deloris (Lois) Patzsch; sisters, Earle Baber, Tootise Parr, Ruby Smith, Elsie Dooms, and Helen Roberson; one brother, Delbert "Dick" Claytor; and one great -grandson, Dexter Wayne Strickler.
She is survived by one daughter, Linda M. Bosserman of Springdale Apartments in Waynesboro; one sister, Effie Parr of Crimora; grandchildren, Dale Ray Sprouse, Tony Sprouse, Cassandra Shifflett, Lisa Lucas, Lawanda Strickler; great -grandchildren, Justin Bradley, Brandon Strickler, Alex Strickler, Ryan Strickler, Brittani Sprouse, Jessie Shifflett, Anthony Sprouse and Tanner Sprouse; son-in-law, Christopher Strickler, along with nieces and nephews. She had a very special niece, like a daughter to her, Darline Belor of Hampton; two special friends, Russell and Bobbie Strand (they were her caregivers and helped Dale and Linda); and her neighbors. Her sister Effie Parr was very special to her as well as her friend, Effie Lowell Swim. She was taken care of by her granddaughter Lawanda and son-in-law, Christopher Strickler, at their home for a while.
In the past, she worked for her sister, Earle, at Earle's Lunch. Before her illness she worked at Eastside Speedway. Everyone there called her "Granny".
She leaves behind her a very special friend in more ways than one, Marylin Roberson. They would tease each other about different things. She was a very special mom, granny, aunt and friend. She never met a stranger. When she worked at Eastside Speedway, she was known as the "Candy Lady". The kids would come up to her knowing she had candy for them. She loved everyone and was loved by all. Her grandson, Dale, was very special to her and made her home with him. He was her "Baby".
Pauline's hobbies were bingo, crosswords, horses, puzzles, going for rides with her grandson, Dale, in the country, and sightseeing until her battle with cancer and other health problems began.
Her daughter, Linda, and grandson, Dale, want to thank everyone for their thoughtfulness and prayers, Pastor Roy White, hospice, doctors and nurses, Doctor Dennis Hatter, Susan Colvin and son, Joey Colvin.
