Mrs. Beard was born in Marion County but had lived in Colbert County most of her life. She was the daughter of the late W.R. and Lela Clay. Also preceding her in death, her husband, Emmett S. Beard; son, Kenneth Beard; and sister, Jean Wallace. She graduated from Coffee High School and Larimore Business College and was employed as a legal secretary most of her career.
She is survived by her son, Roger Beard, of Tuscumbia; daughter-in-law, Judy Beard, of McCalla, Ala.; grandsons, Brett and Brendan, of McCalla, Ala.; and great-granddaughters, Victoria and Elizabeth Beard.
The family wishes to thank the nurses of the Colbert County Health Department, Dr. James Ashmore, Dr. Randle Little and Dr. Jerry Williams.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
