Funeral services will be Saturday, May 22, 2010 at 11 a.m. at the Limestone Chapel Funeral Home with Bud White officiating. Interment will be in Athens City Cemetery.
Mrs. Benge was born on July 6, 1921 to George Pearl Clay and Nora Lee Baxter Clay Hardaway in Giles County, Tennessee.
Mrs. Benge worked as a cashier for L&S Grocery Store for 47 years. She was a member of the Northside Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Adrian Benge; and parents, George Clay and Nora Lee Baxter Clay Hardaway.
Mrs. Benge is survived by a son, Steve Benge and wife, Willodean of Athens, Alabama; brothers, Elmer C. Clay and wife, Margie of Athens; Odell Hardaway of Athens; grandchildren, Zachery Benge and friend Monica of Athens; Adam Benge and wife Jennifer of Huntsville; and several nieces and nephews.
