Funeral services for MG Claxton, age 90, of Bonham were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 3 at Cooper-Sorrells Chapel in Bonham, interment will follow in Arledge Ridge Cemetery. Rev. Bill Beasley will Officiate.
Mr. Claxton passed away Saturday, Sept. 30 at Clyde-Cosper State Veterans Home in Bonham. Mr. Claxton was born on Aug. 13, 1916 in Gober, Texas the son of the late Guy and Morning Claxton. He married Ruth Harris on June 28, 1947, she preceded him in death in October 2005.
He was also preceded in death by his sister Lois Dean and husband Ray Friday and sister-in-law Linda Harris. M.G. was a US Army Veteran of World War II.
MG was employed as a Funeral Director for many years by Wise Funeral Home and Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home both of Bonham.
In 2001, he received his 50 year pin from the Texas Funeral Director's Association after working at Wise Funeral Home and Cooper-Sorrells Funeral Home. He was a charter member of the Seventh and Main Baptist Church, a Master Mason for more than 50 years and a member of the Bonham Lions Club for many years.
Survived by two nieces and one nephew, Nancy and husband Paul of Lannius, Gayle and husband Bruce of Dodd City, and Ron and wife Charlotte Harris of Bonham, brother-in-law Bobby and wife Dorothy Harris of Bonham.
Mr. Claxton is also survived by three great nieces Lesia Bridges of Lannius, Kimberly and husband Mike Burpo of Lannius and Angie Pickle of Bonham. Two great nephews Garry and wife Teresa Mills of Dodd City and Rodney Harris of Bonham. Great-great nieces Jennifer Burpo of Lannius and Sabrina Pickle of Bonham, great-great nephews Johnathan Burpo of Lannius, Ryan Mills of Dodd City, Tyler Pickle of Bonham.
Pallbearers will be Paul Bridges, Bruce Mills, Ron Harris, Mike Burpo, Johnathan Burpo and Gary Mills.
