Bessie Pearl Bruce Clauson

Mrs. Bessie Pearl Clauson was the daughter of David D. and Sarah J. Bruce. She was born at Leedy, Oklahoma on September 23, 1901. She grew up into young womanhood residing at various places in Oklahoma. She came to Denison and to this locality when about twenty years old and while in this locality she met Mr. Clauson. This friendship culminated into a romance. They were united in marriage September 1, 1924 after which they farmed in Stockholm township until about 4 years ago, when the family moved to Kiron which was her home until the time of her death. She had reached the age of 34 years, 3 months, and 15 days.
She was converted and joined the Baptist church at Weatherford, Oklahoma, when about 16 years of age and became affiliated with the Baptist church at Kiron in the spring of 1935, where she was a faithful member. She was also a member of the Phileathea class where she regularly attended having also served in several offices in that class.
She leaves to mourn her sad departure the bereaved husband, Clarence Clauson, the two children, one daughter Lila Lee 9 years and the son Gordon age 3 years, her father and stepmother Mr. and Mrs. David D. Bruce of Calahan, Colorado, her mother, Mrs. Sarah J. Bruce of Weatherford, Oklahoma, two sisters, Mrs. Pansy Foster of Simla, Colorado and Mrs. Goldie Compton of Dallas, Texas and one brother, Clyde Bruce of Calahan, Colorado, besides many other close relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were held on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 o'clock from the home and 1:30 o'clock from the Baptist church with Rev. E. J. Nordlander officiating and Rev. H. A. Faugerstrom assisting.
Interment was made in the Kiron cemetery.
Relatives from a distance attending the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. David D. Bruce and Clyde Bruce of Calahan, Colorado, Mrs. Pansy Foster of Simla, Colorado, Mrs. Bruce and an aunt from Missouri and others from Denison, Deloit and Vail.
