ALMA CLARY
Alma R. Clary, 79, of Troy, MO, passed away with her children and grandchildren at her bedside on Monday, August 27, 2012 at St. Joseph Health Center, in St. Charles, MO. She was born on December 9, 1932 in Knox County, MO, the child of Alonzo and Ora (Ross) Pinson. Little Alma was the youngest of 10 children, and so she was truly the baby of the family. She received lots of love and attention from her siblings and parents. Alma grew up during the depression and helped her mother iron shirts to help the family out as well as helping her cook food for the people that stayed at the local hotel. She met the love of her life, Joseph "Delbert" Clary in Edina. They were later married on July 9, 1950 and to this union were born two children: Sharon and Sam. Sewing and making clothes for her children was what she liked to do. Hard work was no stranger to her. The family moved to Kahoka and then Canton. While living in Canton, Alma worked for the Gates Rubber Co. in Quincy, IL. In 1965, the Clary family moved to Troy because of Delbert's work. Through the years, Alma and Delbert loved to sing duets at church. She taught Sunday School and was a student of the Bible. In the late 60's, Alma worked for Callie Teasley, first as a deputy recorder and later for Melba Houston in the circuit clerk's office before retiring. Even after her retirement, she worked part-time for the circuit clerk's office. She also volunteered at the Troy Holiness School, the Christian Center Academy and Liberty Christian Academy in Troy. Alma served on the Domestic Violence Board. She had been a wonderful mom and grandmother. Sharon remembers her mother making special pies for her birthday and Sam recalls angel food cakes and custard pies. If we could all choose to have a mom, we would want her to be like Alma. Her family said Alma lived and breathed her grandkids. Alma is survived by her loving children; Sharon and her husband Chuck Sutton of Montrose, CO, Sam Clary and his wife Connie of Troy, MO; four grandchildren: Christopher and wife Donna Malone, Jillian and her husband Isaac Gallegos, Joseph Clary, and Jamie Clary. She is further survived by six great-grandchildren: Andrea, Riley, Noah, Hunter, Tasia, Xander, and one great-great grandson, Gabe, in addition to many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Joseph "Delbert" Clary, and nine siblings: Mary Whitmire, Letha Thompson, Leona Slane, LeRoy Pinson, Robert Pinson, Mildred Green, Edwin Pinson, Paul Pinson, and Albert Pinson. Visitation to be held on Tuesday, August 28, 2012, from 4:00 until 8:00p.m. at the McCoy-Blossom Funeral & Cremation Center, 1304 Boone St., Troy, MO 63379 (636) 528-8244. Funeral service to be held at 10a.m. on Wednesday, August 29, 2012 at McCoy-Blossom Funeral & Cremation Center, Troy location. Rev. Bill Haffner to officiate. Interment to follow at 3:00 p.m. in Linville Cemetery in Edina,MO. Serving as pallbearers: Gary Pinson, Daryl Huchteman, Milt Clary, Ben Miller, Dennis Goins and Bryan Chesser. In memory of Alma and the great love she had for her children, her family has requested in lieu of flowers, donations be made to help with astronomical medical expenses for her 9 year old great granddaughter, Tasia Jewell, and for her grandson in-law, Isaac. These expenses are due to hereditary pancreatic transplant surgeries within the past 6 months to relieve debilitating pain and imminent threat of pancreatic cancer for both Tasia and Isaac. Donations can be given or mailed to McCoy-Blossom Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 1304 Boone St., Troy, MO 63379. Please make checks payable to Jillian Gallegos.
