Per his death certificate found on Ancestry.com: he was a son of William Clarkson and Miss A. Pringle. He was married at the time of his death but his certificate does not name his wife. He was a farmer. He died at the Columbia Hospital of double pleurisy (possible metastatic carcinoma). The informant was Andrew Clarkson of Columbia, S.C.
