Richard Clarke, 88, of Springdale died Friday in Springdale. He was born Feb. 26, 1918, in Dallas, Texas.
He served in the U. S. Army during World War II and later graduated from the University of Oklahoma. He retired as director of maintenance for the Dallas Water Department. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church in Fayetteville and an active member of the Asbury Sunday School class and the Friendship Club.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara Storie Freeman Clarke; and two sons, Thomas Clarke and Jerry Freeman.
Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Waggoner of Springdale; a son, Richard Mark Clarke of San Jose, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Memorial service will be 10 a. m. Monday at Fayetteville Central United Methodist Church with the Rev. Tony Holifield officiating. Burial will be noon Tuesday at Roselawn Cemetery in Little Rock with the Rev. Stephen Waggoner officiating. Visitation will be 6-8 p. m. today. Memorial contributions may be made to Fayetteville Central United Methodist Church or Senior LIFE at Jones Center for Families in Springdale.
