Arvilla Amanda Clark (Benson) died peacefully at home of natural causes April 21, 1996.
She was born in Provo, Utah to Osborne Samuel Clark and Frances Elda Peay Clark on March 30, 1905. She married Arthur M. Benson in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on November 13, 1945. They were later divorced. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Osborne P., and brothers-in-law Louis J. Bowers, Jr. and Lloyd R. Stubbs.
She is survived by sisters, Estella C. Stubbs and Ida C. Bowers; sister-in-law, Jacquita J. Clark; 19 nephews; and 31 great-grand nieces and nephews, whom she loved and who loved her.
Arvilla was a life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was a member of the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, 1926-1958, a member of ward choirs, a full time missionary to the California Mission, 1959-1961; a dedicated worker in the Salt Lake Temple, 1970-1984, a teacher of Gospel Doctrine and Spiritual Living for most of her adult life, a Golden Gleaner and Stake Board member.
Avilla was educated in Provo, Utah public schools and attended BYU. She graduated from Quish Beauty School then furthered her training to become an instructor. She taught at Quish Beauty School and Excelcis, Salt Lake City, the national School of Beauty in New York, and Weber State College, Ogden, Utah. She served on the Cosmetology State Board. She was a beloved sister, aunt, teacher and friend. She will be missed by all those loves she touched.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 26, 1996, at 11 a.m., in the Salt Lake 12th Ward, 630 East 100 South. Friends may call Thursday, 7-8 p.m. at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 255 South 200 East, and Friday 9:45-10:45 a.m. at the ward. Interment, Provo City Cemetery
