• PAWHUSKA -- Services for former Ardmore resident Ann Clark Allen will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7, 2002, at the First Presbyterian Church of Pawhuska. The Rev. Scott Fisher will officiate. Interment will be at Pawhuska Cemetery.
Mrs. Allen passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Feb. 3, 2002, in the Pawhuska hospital. She was 73 years old.
"Andy" was born Jan. 28, 1929, in Holdenville, Okla., the daughter of Milton and Mary Elizabeth Davis Clark. She was raised in Ardmore, attended and graduated from Oklahoma A&M College (now Oklahoma State University) with a bachelor's degree. She was a member of Beta Zeta Chapter of Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority and was elected by the Sigma Chi Chapter as the "Sweetheart of Sigma Chi."
On Aug. 26, 1950, Andy married Joe B. Allen in Ardmore. While Joe served in the Army during the Korean War, their two oldest children, Claudia and Ben, were born at Fort Bliss, Texas. The Allens moved to Pawhuska in 1953 and established their home there. While living in Pawhuska, four more children were born to Joe and Andy -- Mary Linda, Sue Clark, James Roan and Nancy, who died in infancy. Andy was a Campfire Girls and Girl Scout Leader, taught Sunday school and Bible school, and taught her children a love of the outdoors. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and a faithful volunteer for Christ's Cupboard and Meals on Wheels.
She is survived by her husband, Joe, Pawhuska; three daughters, Claudia Ann Dillman and husband, Les, of Denver, Mary Linda "Lindy" Hudson and husband, Clancy, of Pawhuska, and Sue Clark Smith and husband, Walter B. Smith III, of Bartlesville; two sons, Ben Winfield Allen and wife, Susan Gail, of Sedan, Kan., and James Roan Allen of Pawhuska; her mother, Mary D. Roan of Ponca City; her brother, retired Sgt. Maj. In addition to her daughter, Nancy, Andy was preceded in death by her father, Milton Clark, in 1937; and her stepfather, James C. "Boot" Roan, in 1983.
