John G. Clark, after a long and severe illness, died at his home in this city (Waukon), on Wednesday, July 25, 1900, of tubercular peritonitis, aged 50 years. John Gardner Clark was born in McHenry County, Illinois, Jan. 21, 1850. His parents moved to Iowa when he was an infant and his life was spent here. He was twice married; first to Miss Judy Smith, who died in 1871, leaving two children; and on Dec. 25, 1873 to Miss Hannah Steele who survives him. The funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church on Friday at 1 o'clock p. m., Rev. R. L. Vannice officiating, and his remains were interred in the cemetery near Myron. He was a member of the M. B. A., and a large number of members of that order escorted the remains to that place.
