He was born in McAlester, Oklahoma, the son of Floyd and Marthat (Anderson) Clark. He attended L'Ouverture School, graduating with the class of 1958. He participated in football, basketball, and band. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1958, serving 20 years of duty with assignments in Germany, England, Alaska, Viet Nam and numerous sites in the United States. He married Cecelia Lee in 1980 after returning to McAlester following his military retirement. He was employed at McAlester Army Ammunition Plant, United States Postal Service and the Department of Corrections until retiring in 1996. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, NAACP, Prince Hall Central Lodge No. 59 and the Grand Avenue Community Board. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, reading and music; especially, Jazz and spending time with his family and friends. At an early age he had been united with Jerusalem Baptist Church in McAlester. Survivors include his wife, Cecelia Clark, of the home; sons, Gerald Ellis, Medford, Ore., James Darren Clark and wife, Asia, Portsmouth, Va., Jamel Dion Clark and fiancÚ, Andrea Hawkins, of McAlester, and step-son Damon Lee, of Ada. Also, brother, Robert Weaver and wife, Sue, of Pawhuska; step-sister, Jacquelin Watson and husband, Alonzo, Dallas; grandchildren, Gerald Jr., Laura, Lynette and LeAnn Ellis, all of Sacramento, Calif., Teriq and Rashad Clark, Portsmouth, Va., and Jordan Clark, of McAlester; three great-grandchildren. And, brothers and sisters-in-law, Don and Carol Laws, Juanita Curtis, and Cecil Lee, all of McAlester, Janice Reed, Denver, and Vernita Warren, Enterprise, Ala., and numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Jackie Weaver, and brother, William "Bill" Weaver. Pallbearers will be Marcus Lee, Anthony Lee, Jimmy Young, Ben Moye, Gaylor Brooks and Kendall Thompson. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Chaney's Memorial Chapel with Pastors David C. Knighton, Grover Walker, Anthony Washington, and Robert E. Warren officiating. Burial will be at North Town Cemetery with military honors provided by Tinker Air Force Base Honor Guard. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Chaney-Harkins Funeral Home of McAlester.
