Marlene Clark Beckstrand, beloved wife, daughter, sister, aunt and teacher, returned home to her Heavenly Father May 19, 2012, after a long battle with multiple sclerosis.

Marlene was born in American Fork on February 6, 1966, to Earl and Gladys Clark, the fourth of five children. She graduated from American Fork High School in 1984, where she played the flute and the piccolo in the marching band. She later graduated with honors from Brigham Young University in April 1988, with a degree in elementary education.

On August 11, 1988, she married the love of her life, Don Beckstrand, in the Provo LDS temple. The couple met while she was student teaching at Alpine Elementary.

Marlene loved children and throughout her life she influenced hundreds of them in both her professional life and her personal life. Not only did she teach third grade for nearly 20 years at Sego Lily and Snow Springs Elementary Schools, she also was a second mother to her nieces and nephews. Family meant everything to her, and her family adored her.

Marlene was dedicated, patient, thoughtful and gracious. She will be greatly missed by all those who knew her.

She is survived by her husband, Don; parents, Earl and Gladys Clark; siblings, Glen (Jolene), Carren (Daryl) and Janet. She was preceded in death by her brother David. She also has 28 nieces and nephews as well as 27 great-nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at 11 a.m. at the LDS meetinghouse on 300 West and 1100 North in Lehi, Utah, with the internment immediately following at the Lehi Cemetary. A viewing will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 22, 2012, at the Wing Mortuary 118 E Main in Lehi and Wednesday from 9:30 am till the time of service.
