She was employed at Keyes Fibre for more than 35 years and retired in 1980 at the age of 65. She was a member of Notre Dame Parish, past president of the Ladies Guild and a member of the Daughters of Isabella. Cleo was predeceased by her husband, Bernard Butler; a sister, Cora Vickers; two brothers, Delbert and Donald Clark; and great-grandson Dylan Nathaniel Day.
She was a loving and involved grandmother and great-grandmother who enjoyed nothing more than spending time with family. Nana loved sports. You would always find her in attendance at one of her grandchildren's sporting events, and later at her great-grandsons' football, soccer, and basketball games. She was also an ardent fan of all New England sports, especially the Boston Red Sox.
Surviving are her daughter, Lolita Day and her husband Douglas of Waterville; her grandchildren, Rebecca and her husband, Wayne Fisher, of Oakland, Donald Day and his wife, Kathy, of Brunswick, Wendy and her husband, Steven Maynard, of South Portland, Jody Day and her husband, Thomas Ciufo, of Rhode Island, and Jennifer Day and her husband, Jeffrey Peck, of Massachusetts. She will also be greatly missed by great-grandchildren Ryan and John Fisher, Michael Maynard, and Elizabeth and Hannah Day, as well as nieces and nephews.
