U.S. Congressman. He graduated from the University of Michigan Law School in 1925, admitted to the bar and proceeded to practice law in Ionia, Michigan. He was Michigan State Assistant Attorney General, (1927-31) and chairman of the Michigan Public Utilities Commission, (1931-34). In 1953, he was elected as a Republican to the Eighty-third Congress, serving until 1955. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he moved to California, where he resided until his death at age 69.
