Barbara L. Clapp
Barbara L. Clapp, age 73, of Kouts, passed away Monday, February 7, 2005, at the VNA Horton Hospice.
She was born August 22, 1931, in Shelbyville, IN the daughter of Howard and Nina (Williams) Phares, graduated from Shelbyville High School in 1949 and had served as Director of Central Service at Porter Memorial Hospital retiring in 1992 with 25 years of service. She was a member and Past President of both the American Legion Auxiliary Post #301 Kouts and VFW Auxiliary Post #988 Valparaiso.
On November 4, 1949, in Shelbyville she married Ross Clapp who preceded her in death on December 27, 2004.
Survivors include their four sons, Gregory (Vicky) Clapp of Orange Park, FL., Tony Clapp of Kouts, John (Sheri) Clapp of Kouts, Edward (Cheryl) Clapp of Valparaiso; one brother, Howard Phares of Bloomington, IN; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her sister, Betty Schnick.
Funeral services will be held Friday 10:30 AM at Kosanke Funeral Home, 105 Indiana Ave., Kouts. Rev. John Cargo officiating with burial at Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso and lunch to follow at VFW Post #988. Visitation Thursday 4 to 8 PM. Memorials may be made to he VNA Horton Hospice Center.
