Opal Louise Clapp Bower, 84, of Nabb, died Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009, at her residence.
She was born Sept. 29, 1925, in Nabb, the daughter of Herman Theodore and Pearlie Mae Amick Clapp. She worked many odd jobs in her younger years and became a homemaker in 1946. She worked for the state of Indiana for over 28 years at the former Muscatatuck State Developmental Center and at the Madison State Hospital as a psychiatric attendant. She enjoyed embroidery, quilting, rodeo and baking. She was a member of New Hope Community Church in New Washington.
She is survived by two daughters, Linda Moffett and Shirley Burgin, both of Nabb; one sister, Elberda Lawrence of Nabb; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Burton "Bert" Bower; one son, Donald L. Bower; her parents; and one sister, Viola J. Clapp Green.
The funeral was at Grayson Funeral Home in New Washington. Burial was in Crown Hill Cemetery.
