Antoni Cieslak, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away on October 29, 2006 in Colorado Springs, CO at the age of 78. Antoni was born on May 24, 1928 in Poland to Vincenty Cieslak and Josepha Kaluzna. He served in the United States Army for 27 years, starting in the 82nd and 101st Airborne Units. He was a veteran of the Korean War and served two tours of duty in Vietnam. Antoni was awarded numerous military accommodations, awards, and medals in his years of service. He retired from the Army as Command Sergeant Major of the 124th Signal School. Antoni moved to the Colorado Springs area in 1965. On December 3, 1966, he married Maria T. Tankesly at the Fort Carson Main Chapel in Colorado. Antoni was a member of the Knights of Columbus and a former member of the Austrian Enzian Club. Antoni is survived by his wife, Maria; daughter, Terri Billet; grandchildren: Jesse Billet and Jennifer Billet; sister, Matusz Czak; and nieces and nephews in Poland. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers. Funeral services will be held for Antoni at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 3, 2006 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 331 Main Street, Security, CO. Interment will follow at Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 2825 Airport Road, Colorado Springs, CO. Memorial contributions may be made in Antoni's name to Pikes Peak Hospice, 825 E. Pikes Peak Ave, Colorado Springs, CO 80903. Antoni was a wonderful man who will hold a place in the hearts of his friends and family always. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. Antoni will be dearly missed.
