South Bend - Phyllis Mary Wentland, 88, passed away at 9:36am on Saturday, March 5, 2011 in Memorial Hospital.

Phyllis was born on July 22, 1922 in South Bend, to the late John and Anna (Kalka) Ciesialka. On January 1, 1944, Phyllis married Eugene Wentland and he passed away on May 25, 2008. Phyllis was also preceded in death by sisters, Clara Brzezinski and Adeline Walczewski; and brother, John Ciesialka, Jr.

Phyllis is survived by her daughter, Patricia A. (Thomas E.) Bolinger of South Bend; son, Larry S. Wentland of South Bend; grandchildren, Brian (Kathy) Bolinger, Brenda Hazinski, Branden Cantrell, and Holly Cantrell; and great-grandchildren, Sarah Bolinger, Daniel Bolinger, Amanda Hazinski, and Robert Chodzinski.

Phyllis was employed by Studebaker, Ball Band, and the South Bend Tribune. She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, Sudoku, cooking, and was famous for her Polish noodles. When dad was in his last days of life, easy-listening music was softly piped into his hospital room for comfort. Mom would stand at his bedside and say "C'mon, Gene, let's dance." Her favorite song was "Somewhere My Love" (Lara's Theme from Doctor Zhivago).
