LEAKESVILLE - Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at McLeod-Magnolia Cemetery for Lula Lee Churchwell Woodfin, 92, of Leakesville, who died Oct. 25, 2005, at Greene Rural Health Center.
Mrs. Woodfin was a retired registered nurse and attended Leakesville Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include a brother, Herman Churchwell of Orlando, Fla.

NOTE: Soon after graduation from the local high school she entered training as a nurse in Baroness-Erlanger hospital in Chattanooga. She entered the army in the spring of 1942, and did her first work at Camp McCain, Miss., from there she went on maneuvers in Tennessee, and later in Georgia. She went overseas in the fall of 1942, and was stationed in England. A few days after D-Day, as a 1st Lieutenant, she went to France and served through VE-Day. She served in field hospitals with the First and Ninth armies in Germany. Lieutenant Churchwell wore the Mediterranean theater ribbon with five battle stars and was awarded the Bronze Star medal in October 1945 for meritorious achievement.
