Mrs. Lillian Brown, 32 of Gonzalez, died as the result of throat lacerations received when her head went through the windshield when the vehicle she was traveling in was hit by an oncoming truck attempting to pass another car near Victoria, Texas. The driver of her vehicle received non-life threatening injuries. Lillian's daughter, Dolores Brown, age 6 was critically injured, but recovered. Negligent homicide charges were brought against the driver of the truck, Louis John Barefield. Mrs. Lillian Brown was divorced per her death certificate. She is the daughter of Henry Churchwell and Vera Alford Churchwell. Foster Pullen Copeland, the husband of Lillian's sister (Vera) Tommie Churchwell Copeland served as informant on the death certificate.
