Son of Major John Strange "Jack" Spencer Churchill (second son of Lord Randolph Spencer-Churchill and Jennie Jerome) and Lady Gwendoline Theresa Mary Bertie (eldest daughter of Montagu Arthur Bertie [7th Earl of Abingdon] and his second wife Gwendoline Mary Dormer).
A multi-talented artist, he was a sculptor and a painter of murals, portraits, and frescoes. He attended Harrow, and then Pembroke College, University of Oxford. Before devoting his life to art, worked in the stock exchange. An Army officer during the Second World War, he was present at the evacuation of Dunkirk in 1940. In 1961, he published a collection of memoirs titled "Crowded Canvas."
He married Angela Mary Culme-Seymour (daughter of Captain George Culme-Seymour and Janet Beatrix Orr Ewing) on 13 May 1934, and divorced in 1938. He next married Mary Cookson (daughter of Kenneth Cookson and Vivienne Butler) on 20 May 1941, and divorced in 1953. Married, third, Kathlyn Tandy Maude Muriel Hall Tandy Beddall (daughter of Major General Walter Samuel Hall Beddall) on 5 March 1953, and was predeceased by her. He married, fourth, Anna Gunvor Maria Janson (daughter of Johan Janson), on 27 August 1958, and the couple divorced in 1972.
Spencer-Churchill was survived by his daughter of his first marriage, Sarah Cornelia Spencer-Churchill (Baroness Ashburton) and three grandchildren.
