Ota Elizabeth Church, 95, a long time resident of Raymond died on Feb. 4, 2007, at the Willapa Harbor Care Center. Ota was born on Feb. 14, 1911, in Pound, Va., to John Nelson and Laura (Sowards) Hopkins. She was raised in the Appalachian Mountain's region of Western Virginia, along with six brothers; and five sisters.

She married her husband, C.W. "Buck" Church on March 13, 1930, in Hazzard, Ky., he died in 2002. They moved to Raymond in 1936. She worked at the Willapa Harbor Hospital and retired in 1979.

She enjoyed gardening, canning, embroidering, quilting and making memorable holidays for her children; grandchildren; and many friends.

Ota will be remembered by family and friends for her love and generosity to all that knew her. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Philip Mullins in 2001.

Ota is survived by two daughters, Ina Jean Watson of Eureka, Calif., and Virginia Mossman of Raymond; a son, Royce Church of Mukilteo, Wash.; one sister, Pearl Countiss of Pound, Va.; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services are set for Saturday, Feb. 10, 2007, at 11 a.m. at Stoller's Mortuary in Raymond. Burial will follow beside her husband at the Fern Hill Cemetery in Menlo.

Memorials may be made to the New Life Fellowship Ministries at 404 Commercial St. in Raymond, or any other church.
