Burrell Thomas "Tom" Christy, local resident of Owasso, died Sunday, Nov. 16, 2003, in Claremore, at the age of 78. He was born March 6, 1925 in Cushing, to Joseph Hulbert and Lela (Ball) Christy.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy having served his country honorably in the Philippines during World War II. He spent most of his working life with Bethlehem Supply in Sapulpa, and then later worked in inventory control with Ramsey-Winch in Tulsa.
He was married Jan. 27, 1990 in Owasso to Paula R. Lowery. He was a 32nd degree Mason and perpetual member of the Sapulpa Masonic Lodge #170. He had served as Past Worshipful Master of the lodge in 1990. He enjoyed a variety of pastimes including fishing as well as traveling in his motor home.
Loving family members include: his wife; Paula, of the home, brother; Kenneth Christy of Okla. City, two nieces; Carol Fagan of Hulbert, Ok., Merle Lalane Smith of Kansas City, two nephews; Tommy Hanes of Hulbert, Ok. and Richard Jarrett of Kansas City.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Delores and their three children; Jamie, Kenneth and Jimmy, his second wife, Margaret and several brothers and sisters.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Nov. 19 at the Mowery Funeral Service Chapel in Owasso with Masonic final rites provided by the Owasso Masonic Lodge #545. Graveside and committal services were held later that same afternoon at Fairlawn Cemetery in Cushing. Military presentation of the flag was provided by the United States Navy. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso.
