Deceased Name: Bernice Marie Christian

Born July 15, 1922 and passed away on July 1, 2000. Bernice was born in Seattle, Wash. and spent most of her life living in the home her grandfather built in 1914 in the Central Valley area of Silverdale, Wash.
Bernice was preceded in death by her mother, Marie Johnson; and her brother, Ralph Bryner who was a pilot lost in combat during World War II in the South Pacific.
Bernice was the loving wife of Custer James Christian who was a World War II and Korean War Veteran as well as a Pearl Harbor/D-Day survivor, serving in the U.S. Navy. Bernice and Custer were married 31 years until Custer's death in 1974.
Bernice was the loving mother of three sons and a daughter. James Custer Christian and wife Debra of Brea, Calif. Hillary Diane Stone and husband Skip of Mission Viejo, Calif. Darryl Christian and wife Joanie of Centralia, Wash. and Andy Christian and wife Renie of Port Orchard, Wash.
Bernice is survived by nine grandchildren: Cindy Keefer and Cathy Lobito of Ogden, Utah; Shelley Kranich and husband Steven of Chandler, Ariz.; Jaime and Michelle Christian of Brea, Calif.; Justin and Cody Christian of Port Orchard, Wash.; and Anda and Mali Christian of Centralia, Wash.
Bernice is also survived by five great-grandchildren: Brandon, Cody and Jessica from Chandler, Ariz.; Heather and Jeremy Keefer of Ogden, Utah.
Bernice was a member of Sons of Norway. She also was a world traveler, courtesy of the U.S. Navy and later for pleasure. She was also an avid camper and a member of the Dudes and Dolls square dance club. She loved to spend time with her family and friends, and especially her grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 5, 2000 at 1:00 p.m. at Lewis Funeral Chapel. Burial to follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery next to her husband.
