The sun has set in the life of Margaret Christian Bowling. She entered into Eternal Rest on April 10, 2012 at the Avante Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility. She was born in Nelson County, VA on July 11, 1935 to the late Isaac and Magaline Christian Bowling. She was also predeceased by two brothers, Abraham Bowling and Roger Lee Toms; one sister, Susie Tate.
Margaret leaves to celebrate her life, reminisce, and rejoice in her home going one son, Hugh Bowling of Richmond, VA; two foster sons, Robert and Roger Wells of Baltimore, MD; four brothers, Jeremiah and James Toms of Alexandria, VA, Edward and Harold Toms of Baltimore, MD; nine sisters, Mary Bowling, Alice Carter, Eva Scurry, Flossie Bailey (Donald) and Gloria Tanner (Fred) of Lynchburg, VA, Emma Avery (John) of Arlington, VA, Berta Moorefield (Jimmie) of Madison Heights, VA, Patricia Saunders (Richard) and Marion Toms of Fayetteville, NC; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The family would like to thank Dr. Jeremy Hardison and staff of Lynchburg Pulmonary, Dr. Anita Hillard, Dr. Kathleen Paul and staff of Alan B. Pearson Cancer Treatment Center, Dr. Scott Adams of Grace Family Medicine, Centra Hospice, and the staff of Avante Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility (a special thanks to Polly, Rhonda, Marsha and Dorothy).
A funeral service will be held 11am, Monday, April 16, 2012 at Bread of Life Church, 208 Kings Way Rd., Rustburg. Interment will be in the Oak Hill Memorial Garden, Massies Mill, VA. Her remains will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the service. The family is receiving friends from 5-7pm, Sunday, April 15, 2012 at Community Funeral Home and other times at The Vistas, 7612 Timberlake Rd., Apt. 1226.
