RICHFIELD-Funeral services for Hyrum Smith Christensen, 72, who died of an operation in the Sevier Valley Hospital Monday, will be conducted in the Richfield Fourth Ward LDS Chapel Wednesday at 2 p.m.
Mr. Christensen was born September 28, 1869, at Richville, Morgan County, a son of Lars Peter Christensen and Mary Peterson Christensen. He married Elizabeth Marie Hansen at Richfield in 1893. She died in 1933 and he married Helena Ames of Moroni at Richfield February 22, 1939.
He was active in civic affairs. He was a member of the state board Blackhawk Indian War Veterans, court bailiff and deputy sheriff for 25 years and at the time of his death was chairman of the Sevier County Welfare Board.
He is survived by his widow and the following children: Mrs. Pearl C. Miner, Long Beach, Calif., Mrs. Jane Winn, Los Angeles, Calif., Harvey Christensen of Monroe, and Rollo Christensen of Long Beach, Calif., 13 grandchildren and one great grandchild; also the following brothers and sisters; Mrs. Printha Brown, Mrs. Rebecca Barton, Leo C. Christensen of Long Beach, Calif., William Christensen, Lynnwood, Calif., Mrs. Eliza Ross, Chester Christensen, Joseph L. Christensen and Mrs. Sarah Hansen, Richfield, Alma Christensen, Sevier, Mrs. Annie Thurber, Fairfield, Idaho, Nephi Christensen and Mrs. Helena Allen, Kingston, Mrs. Vilate Hope, Spring City, and Mrs. Ester Wade, Salt Lake City.
