Early Life: Anita was born February 9, 1936, to Mary Belle Thompson Currie and John Jack Currie in Vancouver, Washington. At the age of 16, Anita began what would become a lifelong career as a meat wrapper.
Life's Work/Service/Interests: Anita worked at several stores over her lifetime, the longest and most recent being 20+ years at Reams in Springville, whose employees were her second family. She was an extremely hard worker and was, in fact, working just days before being admitted to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center for heart complications. The focus of her life was always her family, including hurrying home to care for her youngest granddaughters, Amanda and Emily. Anita was a dedicated servant to her Heavenly Father, family and community. She loved making pies, baking thousands of them over the years. As a band mom she traveled from coast to coast, making delicious scones and thousands of suckers in order to raise funds to help band members make the trips. She attended countless softball, baseball, basketball, volleyball and soccer games, supporting and cheering on her grandchildren. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Anita was a teacher in the Primary and loved seeing the bright happy faces of the children. She was always ready with a hug or two for each child. She was a participating member, for several years, of the Springville Kiwanis. Anita loved the outdoors, especially camping where many games of Yahtzee were played and countless fish were reeled in. Her loved ones are excited for her to rejoin her very special dad at a favorite fishing hole. Treasured mother, grandmother and dear friend, Anita Marie Currie Christensen, passed away Thursday, February 20, 2014, just eleven days after her 78th birthday.
Survived By: Her daughters: Atina (Paul) Wilson, Spanish Fork; Jina Tibbetts, Springville; daughter-in-law, Sharron Christensen, Salem; sons, Randy (Lisa) Christensen, Payson; Michael (Ruth) Christensen, Provo; sister-in-law, Deanna (Gordon) Hodgson, Springville; 31 grandchildren; 50 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
Preceded In Death By: Her parents; stepfather, Harold Swanson; husband, Eldon Earl Christensen; toddler sister, Patricia Evelyn Currie; and one son, Steven Lynn Christensen.
