Emma Larsen Christensen was the daughter of Dorthea Kirstine Johansen and Christian Larsen who had migrated from Denmark and settled in the Brigham City, Utah area.

She married Erastus Christensen from Elwood, Utah, which is in the Bear River area of Utah. Together they built a home on a hundred acre farm in Bear River City, Utah. Together, they had seven children. Theodore Erastus, Hazel Virginia, Leon Noble, Ruth Gertrude, Irma Christina, Ethel Vernice and larsen C.

There oldest son, Theodore Erastus, died in 1904. leaving them with six children.

At some point Emmas' husband was no longer able to work the farm due to a poor heart. The family rented out their family home that they had built themselves along with the family farm and moved to Logan, Utah. In December 16,1918 Erastus died leaving Emma with the six children, the oldest daughter being 13 years old and the youngest boy being2 years old.

Emma and her six children lived in several homes in the Brigham City, Utah area during this time. Emma found work as a clerk in a store in Brigham City, her children said that she had a head for business. After five years, on april 16, 1923, Emma remarried John Valberg, who was a merchant in the Brigham City, Utah area. Like Emma, John had lost his wife Celeste just one year previous, and he brought five additional children into their new union. The couple moved into a home in Brigham City. Just before they married a store was bought by John Valberg. Emma and John both worked in the store.
Through John and Emma's union, one daughter, named Vaudis was born.

Emma suffered poor health during her final years, and she passed away on March 2, 1962. She was buried next to her first husband Erastus Christensen in the Bear River City, Utah Cemetery.
