Alonzo Lance (Bud) Chitwood,
79, of the Low Gap community, passed away Saturday morning, January 12, 1985, at the Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge. Mr. Chitwood was the son of the late Edd Chitwood and the late Frances Gertrude Murley Chitwood and was also preceded in death by three sisters: Edith Chitwood, Lena Watson, and Nola Byrd; and one brother, Edward Chitwood. He was a retired school employee and was a member of Scott County Lodge 670, F&AM, and Sunshine Chapter 279 of the Order of the Eastern Star in Robbins. Mr. Chitwood was a member of the Low Gap Baptist Church for many years. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Newport Chitwood of the Low Gap community; one daughter, Mrs. Howard (June) Lawson of Eaton, O.; four sons: Charles Clayton Chitwood of Helenwood, Marshall Lee Chitwood of Dayton, O., and Thomas Lance Chitwood of Oneida; seven sisters: Virginia Foster of Orlando, Fla., Ovoca Young of Tampa, Fla., Mrs. Johnny (Ruth) George of Oneida, Mrs. George (Mina) Wiseman of Baltimore, Md., Georgia Vere Guion and Lois Ballard of Tampa, Fla., and Murley Jean Walters of Baltimore, Md.; one brother, John Euell Chitwood of Louisville, Ky.; seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; several nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted at the Low Gap Baptist Church at 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 15, with Rev. John Bolin officiating. The Low Gap Baptist Church Choir sang. Burial followed in the Carson Memorial Park. Pallbearers were: Clayton Chitwood, John E. Chitwood, Jr., Howard Lance Lawson, Billy Newport, Eddie Young, and Gary A. Young. Honorary pallbearers were: Ted Burress, Harrison Cross, Dee Ellis, Gene Ellis, Dwight Murphy, J. F. Massey, Leon Newport, R. E. (Buster) Phillips, Lindsay Sexton, and Henry Bowling. West-Murley Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
