Hilda Lynwood Huddleston Chitwood, 7
2, of Oneida, passed away Tuesday morning, April 16, 1985, at the Scott County Hospital following a lingering illness. Mrs. Chitwood was the daughter of the late John Huddleston and the late Emma Burnette Huddleston and was also preceded in death by two sisters: Cecyle Tedder and Robbie Huddleston. She was a retired bookkeeper, having worked for the Jellico Grocery Company in Oneida for many years, and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Oneida. Survivors include her husband, Bernard Butler Chitwood of Oneida; a son and daughter-in-law, Cecil Bernard Chitwood and Colletta Chambers Chitwood of Oak Ridge; four sisters: Anna Lee Smith of Huntsville, Mrs. Hobart (Jeanette) Bailey of Tifton, Ga., Mrs. Paul (Kathleen) Human of Blytheville, Ark., and Mrs. J. T. (Corneil) Busier of Jacksonville, Fla.; three grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted in the chapel of West-Murley Funeral Home at 11 a.m. Friday, April 19, with Rev. Phillip Kazee officiating. Rev. Phillip Kazee sang and Mrs. Gina Phillips played the piano. Burial followed in the Carson Memorial Park. Pallbearers were: Roger Ball, Norvan Blakley, J. R. Chambers, Tommy Chambers, Sam Conaster, Charlie Hicks, and Bill Phillips. Honorary pallbearers were: Rudolph Colditz, Gilbert Creech, and Tobe Phillips. West-Murley Funeral Home in Oneida is in charge of arrangements.
