NAUGATUCK — Elizabeth "Betsy" Rose Alanskas, 77, passed away on Tuesday, March 4, 2014, at Saint Mary's Hospital with her family by her side.

Betsy was born on May 17, 1936, a daughter of the late Terrence W. and Elizabeth (Fleck) Chism. She was predeceased by her brother, William Chism, and her sister, Wilma Leach.

Through Betsy's life, she worked and was a homemaker, but most of all, she was a devoted mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and a friend to many. Through life's struggles, she always tried to make the best of any situation. Children brought laughter and a smile to her face. Others received her caring hand.

Betsy is survived by her two daughters, Petrice Alanskas of Cape May, N.J., and Diane MacDonald of Naugatuck; her son, Richard Alanskas, and her grandson, Angus MacDonald, both of Naugatuck. She will also be missed by her nephew, John Baird, who would like to acknowledge the care and love his Aunt Betsy had shown him and his Grandma Evelyn.

Elizabeth Rose Alanskas, "A Rose of All Seasons". As years pass by and one grows, one appreciates what one has done and meant to another.

Sincere thanks and appreciation to all of her health care providers and ambulance services.

A gathering of the family and friends of Betsy will be held on Thursday, March 13, 2014, at the Buckmiller Brothers Funeral Home, 82 Fairview Ave., Naugatuck, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Burial will be in Grove Cemetery.
