Frances Arlene Yerkes, 95, of Stockbridge, died Monday, October 25, 2010.
Born Frances Arlene Chipman on June 12, 1915 in Waterville, Maine. She moved to Pittsfield as a young woman. There, she met and married Arthur D. Yerkes, deceased of Richmond. They were married twenty-five years and had three children, a daughter, Jane Yerkes Stratton, of Mount Dora, Florida, a son Douglas A. Yerkes, of Eustis, Florida, and Robert A. Yerkes, deceased of Richmond. Her family also includes five grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
As a resident of Richmond, she was a member of the Richmond Congregational Church. She spent many years employed by Berkshire Medical Center, several local nursing homes, and served as a private nurse. Caring and giving care. Upon retirement, she moved to Heaton Court in Stockbridge, where she enjoyed her life with close friends and lots of gardening.
She was a dedicated wife, homemaker, and loving mother and participated in the life of the local community. She was loved by many and will be missed by all.
A graveside funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 28, 2010 at 1:00 p.m. at Richmond Cemetery with the Reverend Holly Reed officiating.
