There is a record of a Barnabas Chipman serving under Captain E. Lathrop's Company. Raised at Barnstable, Service at Falmouth. Dates for this company are noted as February 2-4, September 17, October 2-7, 1814.
He was a partner in a ship chandlary business, called Chipman and Baker, with John W. Baker.
Barnabas married Elizabeth Childs on August 29, 1816.
He then married Elizabeth Hinckley on December 27, 1835. They also had a son named Howard, born July 17, 1844.
