Dudley Ernest Chinn's birth Certificate lists him as "Raymond". Another example of Chinn children raised under different names.
After high school at Ironton (Ohio) High School, he worked briefly at the Dayton Malleable Iron Company. He later moved to Portsmouth, Virgina and worked for years with the Norfolk Navy Yard there. In November 1942 he lived at 1101 Dinwidde St, in Portsmouth, working as a Foundry Caulker and Chipper, Shop 81 at the Norfolk Navy Yard. In the early 1950's he continued work at the Norfolk Navy Yard and was living with his family in the "Dale Homes" section of Portsmouth, Virginia.
He and his wife Claire, met in Portsmouth, VA.
