HITCHCOCK — Hester Mae Chinn, 81, was born to the late Augusta and Dessie Hadnot on February 25, 1929, in Jasper, Texas. She departed this life on Sunday, February 13, 2011.

She attended J. H. Rowe Public Schools in Jasper, Texas. After graduation she left Jasper to make a new life in Galveston. She was a devoted wife and homemaker who was dedicated to her family. Hester retired after 30 years with the Santa Fe Railroad. Hester was a member of the New Macedonia Baptist Church of Hitchcock, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her husband Collier Chinn; parents, Augusta and Dessie Hadnot; brother, Curtis Hadnot and Earnest Hadnot; sister, Mertha Harris, Estell Gillis, and Penelope Hadnot and son in law Dell Cambell

Hester leaves to mourn, her sister Merdessie Hadnot of Houston, Texas; two sons, Dr. Cornelius Chinn (Michelle) of San Angelo, Texas and Vernon Chinn of Texas City, Texas; three daughters, Esther Dorsey (Floyd) of Dallas, Texas, Wilma McCray (Cedric) of Arlington, Texas and Clarretta Cambell of Chicago, Il; daughter-in-law Judy Ann Brown of Santa Fe, Texas; eight grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Her visitation will be on Thursday, February 17, 2011, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the James Crowder Funeral Home in La Marque, Texas. Her Funeral Service will be on Friday, February 18, 2011, at 11:30 a.m. at the New Macedonia Baptist Church 6620 Prino, Hitchcock, TX 77563 with Pastor Laban Kimble.

Pallbearers will be Vernon Chinn, Dr. Cornelius Chinn, Adrian Dorsey, Floyd Dorsey, Donovan Cambell, and Alex Dorsey.
