Obituary for Ethel Ruby Chinn CoffeyEthel Ruby Chinn Coffey, 98, formerly of Owensboro, passed away Thursday at Frankfort Regional Medical Center in Frankfort, Kentucky. She born August 6, 1914 in Daviess County, Kentucky to the late Estil P. and Lelia P. Owen Chinn. She was a member of Third Baptist Church and Choir and sang in the Niagra Quartet. She was an avid reader, book keeper, short story writer and lifelong musician. Aside from her parents Mrs. Coffey was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Elmer Coffey, her sister, Eula Mae Johnson, and her brothers, Clay and Frank Chinn. Services will be held 12:00 p.m. Tuesday at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home with Dr. James Byrd officiating and burial to follow in Rosehill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.at Haley-McGinnis & Owensboro Funeral Home. Survivors include her son, William Donald (Sylvia) Coffey, and her daughter, Joanne Coffey Brooks, both of Frankfort; her very faithful caregiver, Tammie Conway; five grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be the Deacons from Third Baptist Church in Owensboro. Expressions of sympathy can be made to the Third Baptist Church Music Department, 527 Allen Street, Owensboro, KY, 42303.
