Ethel Childress, 90, of Texas City, passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2006 at her residence.

Funeral services will be held 7:00 p.m. Monday, June 26, 2006 at Emken-Linton Funeral Home. Burial will be private at Galveston Memorial Park. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to service time Monday, at the funeral home.

Mrs. Childress was born October 21, 1915 in Gause, Texas. She taught school for over 36 years, she was a Charter member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club. She attended Mary Hardin Baylor University; she graduated from the University of Houston. She loved speaking, decorating, organizing events, her family, her grandchildren and her friends.

Survivors include her grandsons, Jerry Childress and wife, Sandy, Steve Childress and his girlfriend, Laura Rabago; step-daughters, Betty Zanetti and her husband, Joe, and Maggie Sue McFadden; her sisters-in-law, Lucille Treadwell and Gladys Childress; her grandchildren, Chelsea Childress, Steve Clark and Crystal Clark; her great-grandchildren, Steve Clark, Jr., and Leslie Clark; her special friends, Martha Fletcher and Elizabeth Trahan; numerous other relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice Care Team, 1708 – N. Amburn Rd. Suite 300 Texas City, Texas 77591
