Mrs. Broadway was a daughter of Hence B. & Clara Childers and was married to H. Douglas Broadway. They had three daughters.

She was a graduate of Chester High School, Chester, SC, attended The University of South Carolina and Queens College, and was a graduate of Winthrop College. She taught school in Spartanburg County and West Columbia, SC and retired from the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School System. She was a member of the N.C. Educational Association. Mrs. Broadway was a member of Providence Baptist Church, the Faith Sunday School Class and the Senior-Adult Choir.
