Verdell Childers, 29-year-old Shreveport product salesman, was killed on a downtown street here Monday by an accidental shotgun discharge.
Childers had parked his car in front of a gun repair shop and was getting out of the automobile when his automatic shotgun discharged. The charge struck him in the neck and chest, killing him instantly.
Mr. Childers was a native of San Augustine and a member of a pioneer East Texas family.
Surviving are his widow; his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Elmer Childers of Denning; a brother, Elmer Childers, Jr. and 4 sisters.
