Born March 14, 1895 in San Saba, he married BEULAH LANNINGHAM March 20, 1930 in Abilene. He worked in the oil fields and farmed in Callahan County until 1939 when he moved to Ovalo where he farmed until he retired because of health. He was a member of the United Methodist Church. He was a World War I veteran.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter Mrs. FLOYD (LOYS) ALLMAND of Eastland; two sons, JOHN of Wichita Falls and TOMMY MCLEAN of White Sulfer Springs, West Virginia; five sisters, Mrs. JOHN (ALLMENDA) RIMMER and Mrs. S. H. (LOYS) VON RODER, both of Abilene; Mrs. FRANK (MARY) KENT, Mrs. DOYLE (MAY) MORROW and Mrs. J. (LYNN) PITZER, all of May; seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers.
