James Wesley Childers was the fifth child of Richard Childers and Elizabeth Black. He was born in Putnam County, Missouri, and stayed there most of his life, farming. He married Mary Ettie Cummings 22 Mar 1894, and became the father of two children: Elmer Roy and Stella Mae. He died in Saint Joseph, Buchanan County, Missouri, when he was 77 years old. His siblings were: Rebecca J, Andrew, Amy, Sarah A, William Oliver Terrell, Joseph Warren, Richard, Margaret, and Calvin Bently Childers.
