Alma Grace "Mush" Foster was born May 20, 1912 in Mapleton Depot, Huntingdon County, Pennsylvania to Harry Daniel and Annie Rebecca Harshbarger Foster. She married Kermit Chilcote on August 23, 1941. They had one child, Judy Kay Chilcote Miller. Kermit was killed in action in 1945 while serving with the US Navy during WWII.

In her later years, Mush lived with her daughter in Fairmount, Indiana. She died in Marion, Grant County, Indiana on October 11, 2007.
