Leonora Cheves Brockinton, of Charleston, wife of Wilson Harvey Brockinton, entered into eternal rest on the afternoon of March 30, 2011.

Leonora, affectionately known as Sister, was born April 26, 1920, in Charleston, the daughter of Henry Charles Cheves, Jr., and Leonora Foster Cheves.

Sister was a graduate of Memminger High School and attended the University of South Carolina. She was a member of St. Philip's Episcopal Church (member of the Altar Guild) and an associate member of The French Protestant Huguenot Church. Sister also was a charter member of the Ivy Garden Club and a board member of the Association for the Blind for many years. In addition, she was a former member of the Junior League of Charleston and the Colonial Dames of South Carolina.

Leonora was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by her husband, Harvey, of 61 years; three sons, Guy Cheves Tarrant and wife, Teresa, Wilson Harvey Brockinton, Jr. and wife, Rene;e, and Langdon Cheves Brockinton and wife, Margaret; eight grandchildren, Langdon Cheves Tarrant, Joseph McCord Tarrant, Rene;e Ravenel Brockinton, Eliza Cheves Brockinton, W. Harvey Brockinton, III, Catherine Heyward Brockinton, Molly Elizabeth Brockinton, and Emma Foster Brockinton; and two great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her brother, Henry Charles Cheves, III.

Funeral services will be held April 2, 2011, at 2:00 p.m., in The French Protestant Huguenot Church. Burial will be in the churchyard.
