Chelce L. Chessher (1927 - 2010)
Chelce Chessher, 82, of Baker, passed away Friday afternoon, Jan. 22, 2010, at Shoal Creek Rehabilitation Center in Crestview. He was born in Wing, Ala., on Oct. 16, 1927, to Allen and Carlie Chessher and lived in Escambia Farms until 1944 when he moved to Crestview. Chelce was a building contractor and a member of South Ebenezer Baptist Church in Laurel Hill, Fla. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Margie Kate Chessher, a brother James Chessher, and a sister Louise Chessher Flowers.
Survivors include his son Dale Chessher of Crestview, daughter Ann Chessher Tye of Baker, a brother Johnnie Chessher of Crestview, and four loving grandchildren: Chase Tye, Lindsey, Courtney and Katelyn Chessher.
A time of visitation will be held on Saturday, Jan. 23, 2010, at Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. The celebration of Chelce's life will be on Sunday, Jan. 24, 2010, at 2 p.m. at the Chapel of Whitehurst-Powell Funeral Home with Reverend Bill Raley and Reverend Ted Jernigan officiating. Burial will follow in the Liveoak Park Memorial Cemetery in Crestview.
Arrangements are entrusted to Whitehurst Powell Funeral Home in Crestview.
